SEO How To Deal With Fake Review in Google Local Map


Google is the world largest search engine and for a while it maintained its dominant which was about 90% of the search market last July 2010. Google have introduced a Local Map which is great for local search and it has been very accurate however it is not welcomed by many business owners.  Goolge is under allot of criticisms from business owners about The local Map listing.

I can confirm it to you by reading the review of Google by typing Google in Google-maps. You will see for Google Mountain view there are about 285 reviews at the time of writing this article and three out of the last five reviews are a complaint against Google's services. 
Most of the complaints are about the review of the business and lack of customer services for instant the last review about Google was under the title “Google Reviews. It can be good or AWFUL!‎” which the business owner claims that “A fired employee gives us poor review, makes libellous claims, untrue comments”.


Most of the complaints are about SEO agencies or competitors who can write a bad review about your business. So what can be done to stop this nightmare? I’m a person who happened to deal with this sort of issues every day and I can tell you there is a light at end of the tunnel.

Well fist I personally believe that Local map are great way of showing the local results and if I was in Google shoe I may do what they do. Google cannot really deal with world wide by answering their calls and their emails but they gave you options where you only need to use your brain. Today I will tell how to deal with bad review and Local Map.


What is interesting recently Google have stoped showing results for web design including ” web design” and “web design Sydney” however it still showing for “web design in Sydney” Also Google have stoped showing the local result for “SEO” and “SEO Sydney”, but is showing only the results for” SEO Company Sydney”, “SEO Agency Sydney”. Which I’m not sure why? Perhaps they want to clean the result from spam or they want the business owners of web design and SEO company to use adword the answer will only be answered by Google. This will make it hard for online marketing companies to do business due to traffic loss from removing local results.

Now to deal with bad reviews you need to do one of the following:

  • You can Now (by the magic of Goolge) respond to the review as a listing owner in the section of “Response from the owner” by writing e.g. this person is not my client this person is a sacked employee.
  • At the bottom of the review page click on “Report a problem” link and you can select from the list the type of problem and you can put your story in commence box.
  • Remove your listing from Google Places and re-adding it again (this will get read of all your good review and incorrect review). You may need to contact your reviewer to re-add their review again.
    Remove your Local listing from Google Places and optimize your website for organic results.
  • So you see an incorrect review can be fixed it is not all a dark picture as I said there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
